Lately I’ve been loving the hazy, backlit look. A few weeks ago we took our girls out to a regional park and hiking spot for a little golden hour fun. And I can honestly say that we all actually had fun (not always the case when I photograph my own kids!). The girls frolicked in grassy fields, ran up and down hilly hiking trails, admired passing dogs and greeted their owners. It was a beautiful evening and I love the images. I gotta say, this is one of my favorite shoots in a long time. Sometimes everything- the location, the light, the styling, the model- just comes together so perfectly, and this was one of those times. Why does everything I start to type about my youngest turning 2 sound so clichéd and trite? I have wanted to take photos of my girl/s in the snow forever now. The problem is, we live in Southern CA and although we could probably access snow in about a two hours’ drive, between the husband’s work schedule and our demanding calendar, I just wasn’t sure it would happen for us this year. I got to hang out with this cute little lady and her parents a few weeks ago. Isn’t she a doll? I can hardly believe it, but somehow my first baby just turned FOUR!! I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family of four-soon-to-be-five a few weeks back. It was especially lovely because it brought me to my hometown, about an hour-and-a-half southeast of where we live now. Mom requested a magical, ethereal feel for the shoot, which I must admit is my favorite! These four were such a joy to photograph and looked so gorgeous. Life with 3 is fun and busy! That was the takeaway from this family portrait session- these three never stopped moving and playing (and of course Mom and Dad got in on the action, too)! This was such a fun session! Shot this little dude for a Father’s Day gift for his Daddy and Grandpa. This is the first expecting couple so far that I’ve photographed who chose to wait until the big day to learn the gender of their baby. I admire their patience!
